This book was written and published within three years of Bruce Lee’s passing. Written by Dan Inosanto, Bruce Lee’s assistant instructor in Los Angeles, Jeet Kune Do the Art and Philosophy of Bruce Lee, is the first comprehensive compilation and reflection of Jeet Kune Do and Bruce Lee, the man, martial artist, and friend. This book pre-dates the “original vs. concepts” debate and is inclusive of all those who studied and researched Bruce Lee’s martial way. This book also contains a family tree of Jeet Kune Do. Its base lineage is still intact today (Bruce Lee and James Lee excepted).
I had the opportunity to discuss this book with a senior first generation JKD student. His final comments were “You will find a lot of truth in that book.” Jeet Kune Do, the Art and Philosophy of Bruce Lee along with The Tao of Jeet Kune Do should be the foundation of every martial artist and Jeet Kune Do practitioner’s library.
